Are there problems using chip replacement ink cartridges in a Canon MP600 printer?

Q) Have you successfully used compatible cartridges and swapped the chips? If so how many times were you able to do so before the printer complained? Are you able to reset the ink cartridge chip? If so how?

A) As far as I know nobody has found a way of resetting the chips yet. You can turn off the warnings of low ink by clicking the right buttons when it warns you. You have to do this with each cartridge. Once you've done this for each cartridge it shouldn't warn you again. Apparently this will be recorded on the printer and will void your warranty.

What is the best Canon multifunctional printer for ink refill?

Q) Hi everyone. I know there are printers that use ink tanks instead of ink cartridges. By this I mean that the ones with ink tanks do not include a print head in the cartridge but rather this is located within the printer and therefore the ink tanks are way cheaper. This print head must be replaced after some time, I know that. So I was wondering, in your experience, which canon multifunctional offers this solution? Print head separate from the ink tanks and how long does a print head last? I'm after a multifunctional, Canon preferred. At the moment I've got a Pixma MP170 whose cartridges I refill myself but these must be replaced every 10 refills or so and a couple of these is equal to the cost of a new printer! Anyway, thanks for your help!

A) Most of the new printers manufactured today have chips in the cartridge which self-destruct when the ink registers empty. Companies are doing whatever they can to prevent refilling. Epson printers also have separate heads and while their cartridges are also difficult to refill you can find cheap compatibles which work well at http://ccs-digital.com/ink.asp Epson has the best warranty in the market. For a year they will express-ship a replacement printer and pick up the old one should it fail (something one of my clients had to do and it was quick and painless). I have been using Epson printers for well over ten years. I still have a CX3810 going strong for several years now. Friends and family members have just about every other version of the CX series (scanner/copier/printer). Right now epson.com is having a July 4th sale of $99 for the CX9400 or RX595. Try Buy.com for the CX7400 or 8400. Last time I looked it was $70 and there may be a rebate.

What ink cartridges are needed for the Canon IP4300 printer?

A) http://www.inkandstuff.co.uk Select your printer model on this site and you will see all the ink available you you. As well as black, you have magenta, yellow and cyan. There is nothing wrong with the generic inks, but for long term storage of the prints, the Canon ones are best. I hope this helps.

Is there such a thing as fake printer cartridges??

Q) I have a Canon printer and am looking to save a bit of money by buying original printer ink cartridges online. However, I'm a bit skeptical about it - the price offered is about £3 lower than normal, could these cartridges be fakes? I've heard of people selling fake memory cards for digital cameras which look very much like the real thing, but do you think people would sell fake cartridges?? I've used the Tesco ones before and found them really crappy... I've tried adjusting my printer settings to achieve better print results but to no avail. Still get loads of large black ink blobs appearing everywhere on my printouts, rendering them unreadable. The only time the printouts started to look readable was towards the end of the cartridge's life - i.e. the last 10 - 20 pages I've printed. So I think the Tesco cartridges are just no good for my printer. I'm back to using original ones. The refill ones from Cartridge World also produce quite good results on mine, but I find that Cartridge World's prices aren't really that "competitive"...

A) If the printer is old then the price could reflect that amount. If the cartridge is a copy and not original, then it will normally be displayed with compatible. Hope this what you are looking for.

new cartridges in Canon Pixma MP150. Printing fine but but still showing 'ink empty' Any solutions please

Q) Having installed new ink cartridges In my Canon Pixma MP150 printer I find the 'ink empty' still shows although it is printing absolutely fine. How can I rectify this. Thanks.

A) All Printers monitor Ink usage and warn you when they think the ink is running out (so you don't run out half way through an A4 photo). Since users can have different types of Cartridge & can swap them around, the printer has to keep track of each cartridge. This is done by having a 'chip' in each Cartridge. When the Cartridges are reused (i.e. re-filled with Ink by a 3rd party) instead of being recycled, the Printer checks the 'chip' and finds they are reporting 'empty'. Canon printers will keep printing - most manufactuters printers will not. So using refilled cartridges is a lot more difficult since the'chip' has to be replaced or reprogrammed. The only way to avoid 'empty' reports is to purchase brand new genuine Canon cartridges (rather than refilled or 'equivalant' carts).

I've got ink cartridges Canon BCI-21what other printers do they fit?

Where can I get information about the material cost of ink?

Q) I have just carried out another test on my Canon printer using cartridges that cannot be refilled. Using a light setting I managed to get 90 sheets of paper out of the colour cartridge that cost me £16.95. The image is equal to 2/3rds A4. A computer motherboard can be purchased for as little as £20 so how come a few drops of ink in a plastic container can cost so much? The answer, these Japanese, Taiwanese and American syndicates are cheating the world out of millions of dollars every day and I want to expose them. Anyone want to help me?

A) Yep!! Printer manufacturers have had a ball with the ink issue. What model is your printer.??I have had success with JetTec inks and chip resetters on supposedly unrefillable carts!!.Have you tried the Inksaver software.? It reduces your amount of ink usage and can offer great savings with still highly acceptable results.Hope some of these suggestions help !! I tried to source the real costs of inks but drew a blank and thats why I took the plunge and managed to refill the unfillable carts .Gave me some satisfaction not to be lining the pockets of the big boys !!

Are all printer cartridges refillable?

Q) I like to get my ink cartridges refilled rather than but a whole new cartridge, because its cheaper. I have been doing this with my Lexmark, but now I am looking to buy a better printer possibly a canon or hp. So I need to know before I buy. Thanks for your help.

A) you can buy refillable ones here http://track.webgains.com/click.html?wglinkid=18072&wgcampaignid=24331 you will find online cartridges are much cheaper and you can get compatibles ones for a lot less.

Canon Printer Ink Cartridge Question...CL-52 vs. CL-51 for MP450?

Q) I was under the impression that you could still use CL-52 on a Canon Pixma MP450. I thought CL-52 was "special" for photos while CL-51 was for regular pictures/prints. When I received my ink cartridge it doesn't list the MP450 as being compatible... help???

A) Special photo cartridges are a scam. Your printer will still print a wonderful photo with a cl-51, there is really no reason to invest the extra money in a different cartridge.. the difference in print will be marginal, and potentially not even noticeable.

How do I turn OFF the ink indicator on my Canon printer?

Q) I recycle my ink cartridges for my Canon printer quite often and refill with new ink. Every time I install a new cartridge, my printer doesn't like it and it gives me flags that it doesn't take responsibility for used cartridges, blah, blah, blah... it is very annoying. Can someone give me detailed instructions on how to turn the indicator off, so that I don't continually get these flags?? Thank you in advance for your advice.

A) I love my Canon and it CAN be reset. Press and hold the stop/reset button for 5-10 seconds. It won't give you the ink levels, but it will clear your flags for the time being. You may want to consider alternating purchasing new cartridges with refilling every other time you run out. Sounds like the chip has been damaged by refilling too many times.

How do you replace ink in a Canon MP160 printer cartridge?

A) They have made this cartridge one of the easiest I have ever seen to refill. All you do is remove the label on the top of the cartridge and there they are..the holes to refill your cartridge. Be sure to slowly add the new ink, as this will help remove the air as well as let the absorbant inside become saturated with ink so as to give you the highest yeild. A kit for this printer can be found on eBay for around $10.00 plus S&H which includes everything you need, including complete instructions. Hope this helps

Is a Canon Ink cartridge compatible with a Lexmark printer?

A) Unfortunalty no. Most ink cartridges have a little chip / sensor attached to the cartridge which will only detect original manufactuers cartridges (There is a way around this but the amount of effort required is not cost effective). You can try but i assume you will get a unsupported cartrige error or similar. Hope this has helped ;)

Solutions Please HELP HELP! Canon Pixma iP3000 Printer Ink (magenta) Jammed. Advice?

Q) Hello I was wondering if you can help me? I was in a hurry so I went and bought all new ink cartridges at Office Depot in a hurry. I stuck it in there quickly! Now for my Pixma iP 3000 Canon Printer which I LOVE the new Magenta is Jammed! Specifically. It is not Leveled inside of the printer cartridge holder so that it is raised on an inclined plane towards me (low part to me). The Tab which is used to remove the ink is squished down so there is no room to squeeze it and remove it. I tried removing it and it is difficult. I don't want to break it. But it has also taken the Yellow 6 to be jammed with it also! Thank God it prints though! Well, I'm off to class hopefully I'll have had some good advice when I come back Please help! Thank you in advanced (given you're not rude if you are kiss my *&%$!!! To all the other valid responders thanks! Rachel

A) Rachel, I have fixed a lot of printers. Sorry, but if you jammed it in there, you will have to force it out. I don't see how it is printing OK; but you may be dumping a lot of toner down inside that you will need to clean out (using 10 times too much, emptying the thing real soon). You COULD try to dis-mantel it, but you would have to take a huge amount of parts off, and getting them back on could be a big problem. Keep track of EVERY SCREW and WHERE IT GOES!

Recently bought 'refilled' ink cartridge for Canon MP450 Printer... having problems now. Can anyone help?

Q) My ink cartridge went dry so I bought a refilled ink cartridge to replace it. Usually I purchase a new one but it was cheaper to purchase one that was refilled as I print alot. Because printer can no longer tell that the ink cartridge is near full or empty it gives me an option to forget this process and continue printing... but it wont PRINT! Going insane. :)

A) Hi Joel, Chances are that whoever refilled the cartridge did not clean out the jets properly. At my site below under Computer Talk is a section about Printer Troubleshooting that should head you in the right direction to getting it to work again. Hope this helps

no ink comes out of my canon printer. replaced the ink cartridge with a new one but no ink comes out still.?

A) you might also try a deep clean (via the printer software). also, double check and make sure you took the tape off the cartridge :)

Canon Printer Ink Refill?

Q) I guess I need to reset the chips on my ink cartridges for my Canon Pixma ip 4200 series printer. I refilled it and it does not work. However I can only find Epsom chip resetters. Does a Canon Chip Resetter exist yet? Is this infact what I need to be able to refill my ink cartridges? I am so aggravated by this as my stupid printer will not even let me print out anything in black and white until the MAGENTA ink tank is replaced.. even though it IS refilled. What a scam!

A) Although now that I'm seeing the types of questions that you're asking, I can see that you are getting into things that only three geeks would be inclined to give you an answer to. However I can tell you that No, a Cannon Chip resetter does not exist. You're talking about Cannon after all. They're not interested in you saving money but in you spending top dollar for everything that you want with the Cannon name. They are no longer 'top of the line' where it comes to electronics. In fact I would rate them 'welfare of the line' if anything. I've dealt with them and I'm not going to bore you with the details, but you'd be better of with something else. I won't give product endorsements but I will tell you that Cannon isn't interested in making technology easy or intelligent for the user.

A) Yup just go to staples, the part number is bci-21e.

Can I refill a Canon 830 black printer cartridge?

Q) I just bought a new Canoin printer. My last Canon printer seved me well so I felt I couldn't go wrong. But this one uses different ink cartridges and they run out very very quickly. They don't appear to be refillable. Can someone advise me? The Printer is an iP1180 and the refill is PG-830.

A) Most every ink catridge can be refilled. I have seen some packages that you poke a whole in the top and the package comes with a seal for the hole. Just do a search for canon 830 refill kit.
